Bodyweight training will take you somewhere. It just won't take you all the way there.
At some point your body figures out how to manage the demand—and once it does, it stops adapting. Progressive overload requires that the load actually progresses. Bodyweight makes that genuinely difficult past a certain point because the weight is fixed. You are the weight.

The demands of aerial—compression loads, traction forces, overhead work, dynamic loading of spinning skills—require a level of tissue capacity that bodyweight training alone doesn't reliably build.

Getting into the gym isn't a nice-to-have. It's the missing variable.
