When you say The Parish is for neurodivergent & hypermobile people, what does that mean?

The Parish is a trauma-informed space that welcomes people whose bodies and brains work a little different.

The community also recognizes that not all neurodivergent people have the same needs and not all hypermobile people are symptomatic. That means that not every aspect of The Parish will work for every type of neurodivergence or hypermobility syndrome.

So what does this mean in the context of how this community works?

It means:

  • the default cueing in mobility classes and tutorials is for hypermobile bodies
  • the level of detail and specificity in content is for folks that need more information, not less, and take a longer time to process it
  • classes prioritize nervous system care and focus on increasing proprioception and awareness
  • it is incumbent for you to ask for what you need and accept that The Parish or its coaches might not always be able to provide it
  • while questions and collaboration are encouraged and applauded, coaching in this space is only given with consent (when asking for help, be explicit and identify who you're asking, i.e., anyone, a coach, your peers, etc.)
