I spent five years grinding on straight arm inverts. Classes. Conditioning. Drilling. Showing up consistently and doing everything I was supposed to do… in class.
And I got nowhere near them.
What finally changed wasn’t more time on the apparatus. It was a significant shift in the ratio of on apparatus to off apparatus training. I got serious about mobility. I built a handstand practice that completely changed my shoulder stability and strength. My compression improved. My pancake improved. And somewhere in the middle of all of that—without specifically drilling straight arm inverts more—they just started happening.
The invert didn’t get easier because I tried harder. It got easier because my body finally had the capacity to support it.
More attempts of the thing you can’t do yet doesn’t build the foundation underneath it. It just keeps asking your body to do something it isn’t ready for.
The window of what’s possible expands when you expand the capacity behind it. Straight/arm inverts live at the edge of that window for most aerialists—which means the work that unlocks them happens mostly off the apparatus.
Five years of grinding taught me that. I’d rather save you some of that time.
The Inversion Conversion Masterclass is where that foundation work starts.
