This is the beehive, also known as the "count catch."
Prerequisites:
1) Solid star position and horizontal rotation in a double star drop, including entrances into s-wrap.
2) Understand of how to "strike" (pancake) in a forward dive to slow your rotation.
Key Technique Notes:
1) Always start with a single beehive. That means, wrap your s-wrap (but don't lock it) and then continue the tail behind the back, around the waist, and back behind the back. Hold the tail out away from your body and over the head in a "Y" position. As you unfurl the waist wrap and the tail presses into the pole, it will slow your rotation some. If you only have 1 wrap to take off, there is not a lot of speed and you'll slow down enough to make your knee hook.
2) Stack the wraps around your waist like a beehive from next to the swap up the body, so that the wraps do not cause your body to tilt.
3) You can start from a toe tag facing the wall or a knee hook facing the ceiling. The toe tag position removes a quarter rotation, and some velocity, but makes it easier to twist in the hips and harder to maintain a horizontal position. The knee hook add velocity, but makes it easier to crunch up in the core and stay parallel to the ground. Staying parallel to the ground makes it easier to catch at the end!
4) In the rotation, when you see the floor, start to pancake your straddle. This will make the knee catch easier and prevent injury. If you barely catch the knee with velocity, you can injure your hip. If you miss the catch with velocity, you can injure your ribs. Be sure you really understand this drop before advancing to doubles or triples.
5) Before trying the double, try the exact same pathway in a double star. Meaning, wrap a double star and then pancake at the end to "catch" the knee.
